The city of Chennai, previously known as Madras, is the capital of the state of Tamilnadu in southeast India. Chennai, about 350 years old (1639), is a coastal city with the second longest beach in the world known as 'Marina' beach. The climate is generally warm and humid. The rainy season starts in September and lasts till November.

The conference will be held at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), an institution of national importance and a centre of excellence for teaching, research and industrial consultancy, established in 1959 with technical assistance from the German Government under the first Indo-German agreement.
